Ep 87: Wool Gathering Adventures (& chats with Great Ocean Road Mill and Tom at Tarndie)

I'm back from Wool Gathering absolutely filled to the brim with happy vibes, positive energy and laughter. Karen has created a truly amazing retreat and if you are able to go next year, go!

This week I've attempted to include a couple of video snippets too. They're not perfect but I hope you get a feel of Nick & Isabell from Great Ocean Road Mill and Tom from Tarndie. I was so inspired by the work that Tarndie and Great Ocean Road Mill are doing towards more sustainable farming and yarn production and I hope to be able to bring you more news of what they're up to soon.

WOOL GATHERING

I spoke to Karen last year, she's a wonderful woman and she has created such a fantastic retreat:

Find out more about Wool Gathering events here.

TARNDIE YARN

Check out all the gorgeous yarn that Tarndie created. Their stunning Polwarth comes in fingering and DK weights and a lovely range of natural and dyed colours. Briony Singleton developed a range of colours that echo the history and beauty of Tarndie - it's hard to choose which is my favourite! I think you'll love this beautiful short video from Tarndie about their Origins yarn :)

My new Piper cardigan uses Tarndie Origins DK

Maycroft shawl uses both Tarndie Polwarth fingering and Origins 4ply yarn.

Check out all about Tarndie here. You can shop online and also stay there!

GREAT OCEAN ROAD MILL

I am so inspired by Nick and Isabel and their work at Great Ocean Road Mill. They have a passion and determination to create beautiful, sustainable yarn that shines through in their yarn. It's truly stunning.

I'll twist their arm to come back on the podcast for a chat. In the meantime, you can buy their beautiful yarn online here.

EVA YARN

Fancy trying some of the newly released Eva yarn developed by Tom, Nick & Isabel? It's gorgeous and would be beautiful for a warm wrap or cosy sweater. You can buy it online now at Great Ocean Road Mill.

See you soon!

Ep 86: With Meg from Sew Liberated!

I wrangled with technology and learnt a bunch of new things this week. Like, how to edit two video streams to make a (hopefully reasonably) cohesive video! It's pretty thrilling because now I feel ready to interview more people! I totally winged it this first time, crossing all my fingers and toes that I'd actually figure it out! (don't tell Meg!) Thank goodness, a bunch of tutorials later, and I've got it kind of sussed.

INTERVIEW WITH MEG MCELWEE FROM SEW LIBERATED

I'm super excited to have the very gorgeous Meg from Sew Liberated on the podcast today! We're chatting about making as a self care, sewing, knitting and lots in between. She's such an interesting, genuine person and I really hope you enjoy her as much as I did.

Ep 85: Socks, Sewing & a Giveaway!

Hello! I'm back with a brand new podcast episode - video and audio - and I'm sharing my recent sewing make, reviewing a lovely new ebook and chatting ...

WHAT I'M WEARING

I forgot to mention what I was wearing last time, so of course I got a bunch of questions :) I adore my Maya dress from Marilla Walker and the soft, cotton Liberty fabric is exactly what I need to add some spring to my day.

This week I'm wearing a Washi top made with some Amy Butler quilting cotton.

ARENITE PANTS

I finished them and they're so cool! The finish is stunning and you can get a copy of the pattern from Sew Liberated.

In my photos I'm wearing my Arenite pants with a woven Lou Box top.

SOCKS EBOOK

What a gorgeous ebook! Making Stories have done it again with Socks 18 and their fantastic attention to detail and gorgeous photos. It's a thoughtful book full of neat patterns.

Maybe you'll win a copy? Entries close Wednesday 4 April 2018.

If you fancy reading more about no-nylon socks, go check out my dear friend Clare Devine from Knit Share Love and hear about her no-nylon experiment.

Have a wonderful couple of weeks! It's not too late to join our Shawl/Wrap KAL in the Ravelry group! We'd love to see you there - it's humming!

Happy knitting,

Libby xxx

Back To Video!

Oh my goodness! I'm back to video! The podcast was slow to get started this year but it's finally here and I'm excited to chat to you all in full HD :)

I've had so many messages over the past couple of years about going back to video and while I know that audio suited lots of you and I can't please everyone (sorry!), I'm giving video a bash again. I hope you enjoy it!

You'll be able to watch the video here on the blog and on YouTube and if you sign up to my mini-mag, you'll also have the option to receive emails when I post a new podcast. Depending on my internet connection ... I'm aiming to have a new episode up about once a fortnight and I'm planning to include occasional interviews as well as show you what I'm up to and have a general chat.

So, without further ado, here we go - video! (and the audio only link for those of you who still love audio) All the bits and pieces I mention are listed below. Happy watching!

Just a reminder, you can find me all over the internet:

JOIN THE SPRING SHAWL, WRAP UP KAL

We'd love to have you! Head over to the Ravelry group to join in the chatter and cast on a fresh shawl for spring or cosy wrap for autumn - don't forget to use the code SHAWL to enjoy a discount!

I'm planning to cast on a new shawl design in some gorgeous yarn from

NEW CARDIGAN DESIGN - FLORRIE

Did you catch my first design release of the year? Florrie was released in February and I can't wait for the weather to cool off so I can enjoy her.

I used beautiful Elena from Moeke yarn for my design, but if you can't get hold of it, or fancy a super soft version, Bohemia Sport from Outlaw Yarn would be a great substitute.

SEWING

First up, I'm testing a new trouser pattern for Meg of Sew Liberated. Check out her gorgeous instagram feed!

I've also got plans for a Cleo skirt and a longer Kelly skirt.

LAINE MAGAZINE & KATE!

I'm completely over the moon to have a design included in the latest issue of Laine Mag. Kate is a top down, fingering cardigan with set in sleeves, striking panels at the front and surprising details that give her a twist and make me smile.

I used super luxurious Kauri fingering from Zealana yarns in colourway k13/Ashen and love the light, soft fabric that this yarn creates and the dark halo from the possum.

I mentioned errata that is available for Kate - you can find all Laine errata here.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway to win your own copy of Laine! Watch the video for details ...

THANK YOU!

And lastly, thank you so much for taking this podcast adventure with me - I love chatting to you xxx
