It's exceptionally hard to capture how an amazing view makes you feel. These shots are taken from our back door and the sky is vast, the air is clear and the colours have a magical pull that makes it hard to tear your eyes away. It feels good. Really good.

We're here, in New Zealand, over our jet-lag and settling into our new lives.

To be honest, not a lot of knitting has been done. No sewing (although a quick trip to the local fabric shop had me salivating and dying for my machine to arrive) and only a teensy bit of spinning just to show my sister how a spindle works. My sister and I have eight kids between us. That's right. Eight. We're all staying together for the time being and between making food, cleaning up and sorting out squabbles there hasn't been much time to sit and make stuff. It might help if I could keep my eyes open in the evening and not tiptoe off to bed with the kids ...

I'm finally warm after a whole week of being freezing cold.

I'm not sure if it was tiredness or getting used to breezy homes after living with central heating for so long. At least I was reassured that I'll still need knitwear in NZ - I was pretty panicked about that.

Anyway, it hit 25C today and my Liberty Washi dress was perfect. I teamed it with my new red birthday jandals.

I promise, there'll be knitting real soon.
